While the world was agog at the news that President Trump had leaked sensitive, classified information to a Russian diplomat, the rightosphere was going bonkers over an old, dumb conspiracy theory that Seth Rich, a young DNC staffer who was murdered in DC, had been assassinated in retaliation for leaking DNC emails to Wikileaks.
Fox's Sean Hannity (previously) was a prime mover behind the story (which traumatized Rich's grieving parents), insisting that it was true despite the mountain of contradictory evidence.
Now, Fox has issued a rare, formal retraction, stating that the story "was not initially subjected to the high degree of editorial scrutiny we require for all our reporting."
But Hannity isn't buying it: he still insists it's true.
On May 16, a story was posted on the Fox News website on the investigation into the 2016 murder of DNC Staffer Seth Rich. The article was not initially subjected to the high degree of editorial scrutiny we require for all our reporting.
