Global Justice Now's "Corporate Monopoly" is an excellent piece of information design; it's a playable boardgame adapted from Monopoly (itself originally designed to teach the evils of capitalism), in which a shoe (the 99%) and a top hat (obvs) take it in turns to go round a familiar board whose squares tell stories about real-world class war, centred around UK policies and business.
Play it now, before Hasbro censors it off the Internet!
It's part of a grand tradition of Monopoly-alikes that take aim at market economics, including Anti-Monopoly and the venerable Class Struggle, whose box featured some genuinely excellent analog-era shooping.
PEOPLE V BIG BUSINESS
Welcome to Global Justice Now's Corporate Monopoly, where you get to choose to play from a position of privilege (represented by the hat Hat), or choose to play as one of the 99% (represented by the boot Boot). The odds are in hat's favour, but as the boot you get three chances to get help from Global Justice Now! Use them wisely…
Whatever counter you choose, you'll be playing against the computer. Roll the dice to advance around the board, but be careful as each square can make you win or lose money, and if you lose all of yours it's game over.
Of course, life isn't fair, but at least you both start with £1000…
