When I'm storing weed, either in small or large (for me) amounts, I use Boveda 62% humidity control packs.
At the rate I smoke, storing weed in an air-tight jar still develops too much crispy dried out shake. I have started putting these 4 gram humidity packs in the smaller spice jars I use, and voilla! 10 are only $14. They last a long time.
California's trend towards home heirloom marijuana cultivation has friends keep dropping off amazing home grown samples as well. This has necessitated a mason jar or two regulated by 8 gram packets.
Use air tight jars or these packs will not help.
Reading on internet forums suggested, to me, that 58-65% humidity is best for marijuana. I've tried everything from 54-65% and prefer these 62% packs. I am sure someone will disagree.
I could never be bothered to care about cigar humidity.
