Eser Dominoes are an interesting proof of concept that won a juried award at the 14th Japan Media Arts Festival.
Creator Suki Jarashi said at the time:
The dominoes communicate with each other wirelessly. When the first one falls, it sends a signal to the second, and a tab comes out from the bottom of the second domino, which make sit fall over. You can change the order in which the dominoes fall by tilting them. If you tilt them to the left, they go one step ahead. If you tilt them to the right, they drop one step behind.
He said they were too expensive to mass produce for a consumer market, but he hints that there may be other applications and improvements.
