Donald Trump, back on top of Republican polls, has called for the creation of a national database of Muslims. Similar to the systems used by the Nazis to track Jews during the Holocaust, the idea has not gone down well, even among his party's rival candidates.
Speaking in Newton, Iowa, Trump said that Muslims would be legally obligated to sign into the database.
"I would certainly implement that. Absolutely," he told reporters. "There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases. We should have a lot of systems."
When asked how the plan differed from the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany, Trump responded "You tell me."

Trump recently called for Mosques to be closed, amid intense Conservative pandering in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks in Paris.
Democrat front runner Hillary Clinton and Republican rival Jeb Bush both criticized Trump's Muslim-tracking plan.

"That's just wrong," Bush told CNBC. "I don't care about campaigns. It's not a question of toughness. It's to manipulate people's angst and their fears. That's not strength, that's weakness."
In other news, Republican candidate and top Trump rival Ben Carson likened Syrian refugees to rabid dogs.
