As I previously posted, in April my friends in the Afghan Whigs will release their first new album in sixteen years, titled Do To The Beast. The first single, Algiers, was just revealed today and it's a scorching, gritty ballad shrouded in what I can only describe as a Morricone haze. Video above. It's a western. I listened today to Do To The Beast in full and can attest that it's as deep, multi-layered, soulful, cinematic, rocking, and everything you would hope to hear from the reborn Whigs. The Afghan Whigs will play Coachella and a handful of other US dates on the West and East Coast in April and May.
