If someone’s going to make you late for a flight, it might as well be Shannon Wheeler, at some Jimmy Buffett-style margarita bar at the Portland Airport. We made it just in time, thankfully, three whiskeys in, but for future reference, it’s worth noting that PDX security isn’t as lax as one might expect. I don’t think we spoke at the bible at all that time out, but I’m pretty sure I made reference to the fact that Carrie Brownstein was on my flight, and I blurted out “THENEWWILDFLAGRECORDISGREAT,” as I was standing on the plane waiting to take me seat. People take for ever getting things in the overhead compartment, so it was a lot of me looking forward, pretending I wasn’t there after she kindly accepted the compliment.
