'Needless suffering and death' — Dr. Anthony Fauci to testify before Senate on White House coronavirus response

Dr. Anthony Fauci is expected to warn states Tuesday in Senate testimony prematurely reopening economies will cause “needless suffering and death.”

Donald Trump is having a very anxious day.

Today is the day the nation’s top health authorities are to testify before a Senate committee that is tasked with plans to reopening businesses, schools and the rest of the economy closed because of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci warned that officials should adhere to federal guidelines for a phased reopening.

They did not.

Fauci is among the officials who have been invited to testify before the Senate on Tuesday.

Fauci is expected to warn of ‘suffering and death’ in his Senate testimony if the Trump administration and followers continue to push for “reopening” too soon.

“If we skip over the checkpoints in the guidelines to: ‘Open America Again,’ then we risk the danger of multiple outbreaks throughout the country,” explained Fauci on what he plans to tell the U.S. Senate.

The Senate hearing will feature three federal officials:

• Anthony Fauci
• Robert Redfield (head of the CDC)
• Stephen Hahn (head of the FDA)
