Wow. A single Republican senator has a spine after all.
Utah Senator Mitt Romney says he will vote in favor of the article of impeachment on abuse of power against President Donald John Trump.
“The president is guilty of a flagrant abuse of public trust,” said Romney just now.
“Corrupting an election to keep oneself in office is perhaps the most abusive and destructive violation of one’s oath of office that I can imagine.”

Romney: “Were I to ignore the evidence that has been presented & disregard what I believe my oath & the Constitution demands of me for the sake of a partisan end, it would, I fear, expose my character to history’s rebuke & the censure of my own conscience.”

Heck yeah.

And here is Impeachment Manager Adam Schiff’s reply.
Having proven Trump guilty, I asked if there was just one Republican Senator who would say “enough”
Who would stand up against this dangerously immoral president
Who would display moral courage
Who would do impartial justice as their oath required and convict
And there is. https://t.co/xNHi2CP6oF

In addition to his conclusion after weighing the evidence, I am also impressed with how seriously Romney took this duty.
Forget their ultimate decisions, so many Republicans in Congress treated this as theater or a joke. https://t.co/gQ4pBFQepO

A WH official said Romney's announcement did not impact the decision to scrap the photo opportunity in the Oval Office. The official said the decision to cancel the spray came before Romney began to speak.
