A 21-year-old man flourishing a machete was deprived of his opportunity to steal money from a New Zealand convenience store after the owner activated a fog cannon.

Police have since arrested and charged a 21-year-old man with assault with intent to rob in relation to the incident, which happened on September 13.
The alleged offender was due to appear in the Kaikohe District Court.
“Fog cannons are great [crime] prevention tools,” police said in the Facebook post.
