Calls of 'active shooter' lead to evacuation of Century City Mall, Los Angeles police respond to reports of 'Man with a Gun'

“Nothing has been confirmed,” an LAPD officer told LA Times. “We’re trying to resolve the situation.”

UPDATE: LAPDHQ SAYS, “If you’re sheltering in place within the Century City Mall you can begin to calmly exit the location. We ask that you remain calm and follow instructions of the officers at scene. We have NO evidence of a shooting or any victims at this time.” Thank goodness it was called off.

An 'active shooter' was reported to LAPD at Century City Mall in Los Angeles, on the city's westside. LAPD has no confirmed reports of a shooter or victims at this time.

From the Los Angeles Times:

Police responded to a radio call about a man with a gun at an unknown location inside the mall at 12:42 p.m., LAPD Officer Jeff Lee said.

An office building at 1901 Avenue of the Stars next to the mall is on lockdown, according to an email sent to tenants.

Police said they have found no evidence of shots fired and are still looking for a suspect.

“Nothing has been confirmed,” Lee said. “We’re trying to resolve the situation.”

Deputy Chief Horace Frank, the LAPD’s head of counter-terrorism, said there are reports that a man inside the Amazon store may have attempted to set a package on fire.

The LAPD’s bomb squad is responding to the scene to ensure there is no threat.

The incident comes hours after a mass shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand.
