As he's quick to point out, a "perfect" AI still relies on luck, because even a perfect player can end up with a 50% chance of losing. In other words, the first few moves are inevitably random, during which it's possible to run into some bad luck. It seems there would be some interesting math around the point at which it becomes no longer random and a win becomes a 100% probability.
