Senate Intel Committee to hold 'Disinformation' hearing on Russian hacking and Trump election win

In Washington today, members of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee said they have scheduled a hearing on Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. Presidential election for March 30.

That hearing is titled ‘Disinformation: A Primer in Russian Active Measures and Influence Campaigns,’ which sounds pretty dystopic. The statement came late Friday from Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Ranking Democrat Mark Warner (Va.).

From the description:

The first panel will examine the history and characteristics of those campaigns; the second panel will examine the role and capabilities of cyber operations in support of these activities.

The intelligence community publicly blamed Russia for hacks of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) last year and suggested the attacks were carried out to help President Trump win.
