These strange wooden boxes by Paolo del Toro have whimsical designs that open at the mouths to reveal a secret compartment. Just loosen the drawstring and add whatever you'd like.
Sez Paolo:
I've been teaching myself woodwork for about 5 years now. I started making these strange sculptural wooden boxes as a way to teach myself functional woodworking and sculpture at the same time. I wanted to make things that were light and somewhat practical, so they weren't a burden to carry around with me while travelling. They're all made with hand tools from a variety of woods (my favourites are maple and cherry) I use a lighter coloured wood (usually box or holly) for the inlays that form the eyes and teeth.
