If your "best-hope" scenario is that Trump just said random trash to get elected and now has no idea what to do and will just let the GOP run the country while he pipes up occasionally with more random trash—things are looking rosy for you today.
Less than 24 hours after Republican Donald Trump was elected president of the United States, his statement calling for a "total and complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the U.S. mysteriously vanished from his campaign website.
In the Dec. 7, 2015, statement Trump, pointed to polling data that suggested 25% of Muslims support violence against Americans: "Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anyone the hatred is beyond comprehension."
But, without explanation, the signature campaign message is no longer on the president-elect's website, and the page where it once was now redirects to a donation page.
Exhibit B: Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, Chris Christie, Reince Priebus and a Goldman Sachs executive are all in line for top administration positions.
Conservatives, even those who NeverTrumped, jumped in line behind their boy as soon as he secured power. But more interesting are the NeverGOP #DrainTheSwamp types who are happy to line up with them now that he has it. If it seems odd that a Trump government could turn out to be an orthodox GOP one with unprecedented power, well, 2016 has something for everyone, doesn't it?
UPDATE: Bigots can rest assured! The Muslim ban promise has been restored to Trump's website.
