Samsung has recalled 2.8 million washing machines after users reported “impact injuries” including a broken jaw. NBC’s Lucy Bayly reports that unbalanced drums are separating from their mechanisms while in use, damaging the washing machines and sending parts flying.
Samsung is also the subject of an August lawsuit from owners who said their machines “explode during normal use.”
Customers with one of the 34 affected models should contact Samsung for a repair kit, rebate, or full refund based on the purchase date. In the meantime, Samsung advises customers to use a lower spin speed.
The recalls follow that of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 phone, whose recurring battery fire problem ultimately lad to the gadget being withdrawn from sale.
