Model forwards unsolicited dick pix, chat transcripts to girlfriends of her harassers

Emily Sears has a longstanding, devastatingly effecting procedure for handling the unsolicited dick pix, wanking videos, and sexist come-ons she receives from creepy Internet randos: she researches their girlfriends and messages them with screengrabs of the whole thing.

She says she's just doing what she'd want other women to do if it were her boyfriend harassing women online. She also posts blurred-out versions of her interactions with the creeps as a warning about what'll happen to anyone else who tries it. She's also enlisted her friend, a DJ named Laura Lux, into the project. The two of them recount the "panicked apologies" they get from creeps when they explain that they're about to message the girlfriends, aunts, mothers, etc on their contacts lists.

“We send the photos as a reminder for them to have respect for women,” Emily said. “I think it provides an accountability that people seem to lose online; being behind a screen gives people a false sense of anonymity.”

“I have noticed since posting my responses as a warning that the number has been significantly lower. I think my followers are slowly getting the message.”

The pair don’t always hear a response back from the girlfriends or wives. However, when they contact the men with photos of their partners’ profile page, the reaction is usually a “panicked apology.”
