Weekend of Wonder: last-minute surprise additions you won't want to miss

Boing Boing’s first-ever Weekend of Wonder is fast approaching! The stage is mostly set for our extravaganza, which takes place September 18-20 at Southern California’s historic Mission Inn. But some really special elements are coming together in these final days leading up to the event that are just– well, wonderful. And you should not miss them, so get your tickets here.

We’re not sure how this happened, but BALLS seems to be a running theme with these additions.

Everybody loves balls.

Xeni wrote an amazing post detailing how Starry Kitchen is turning one of our meals during WoW into something more like performance art than just dining.

Naturally, one of the more compelling things about SK is their battle-cry which revolves around sticking their balls in your mouth. Their crispy tofu balls.

Starry Kitchen’s totally insane tofu balls are the punch line in many of founder Nguyen Tran’s raunchy instagram captions.

We’re adding a workshop where our participants can make a set of juggling balls with Boing Boing co-founder Carla Frauenfelder. While making balls with Carla is a ball, ball-making isn’t just fun and games! Later, Lindsay Benner will be teaching juggling.

Lindsay is an amazing comedian and performance artist, and she just returned from the annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She’s one of our favorite live performers and we’re thrilled that she and her husband Dan Das Mann will be joining us. Dan is bringing balls too.

Dan hangs his balls, large disco ones, off the back of his awesome music-festival-in-an-art-car, the FUNNMACHINE. He’ll be firing up the FUNNMACHINE, turning one of our outdoor meals into an immediate dance party. Lights, lasers, misters, and a fog machine all built into one FUNN machine.

There are so many wonders in the works: 49 Boxes, Thomas Kuntz’ automata, Andrew Mayne, the comedy of Mark Fite and Jim Turner, the music of Martin and Olivia Olsen, John Park’s lock picking workshops, incredible food, technology and toys.

We cannot wait. Don’t miss out! Tickets are still on sale.
