PUMP, or Problematic Use of Mobile Phone, happens when users turn to their phones instead of in-person contact to alleviate depression, according to a new study in Computers in Human Behavior.
Lead author Jung-Hyun Kim concluded, "Engaging in more face-to-face interaction can work as an antidote to the development of problematic mobile phone use."
Probably the best thing to do is meet up with a friend and stare into their eyes for ten minutes.
