Archie Comics recently proved that they're willing to completely reimagine the look of their iconic characters, bringing in Saga artist Fiona Staples for a relaunch of their flagship title that cast Archie and company in an entirely new light.
In November, fans will also get to see Archie reimagined by another superb cartoonist: Jaime Hernandez, of the beloved and long-running Love and Rockets series. Although the interior art for the book will be illustrated by Annie Wu, Hernandez has drawn a variant cover for Archie #4, and this is our first look at the Riverdale gang through his eyes.
Here's the publisher's description of the issue, which is written by Mark Waid, and involves a mysterious "lipstick incident." What does it mean, what does it mean?
ARCHIE #4
The biggest comic series of the year continues! What was the "lipstick incident" that pushed Archie and Betty apart? And can the smartest boy in Riverdale fix it? The spotlight is on Dilton and Moose as, together, they show what friendship is really all about! We’re pleased to welcome ANNIE WU (BLACK CANARY, HAWKEYE) to Riverdale, as she takes over art duties in this brand new issue!
