Baa Baa Black Sheep (Black Sheep Squadron) vol. 1

Baa Baa Black Sheep - Volume 1

“We are poor little lambs, who have lost our way. Baa. Baa. Baa.” I loved this show so much as a kid, the opening credits give me chills.

Based on the real adventures of Major Greg “Pappy” Boyington and the pilots of Marine Attack Squadron 214, The Black Sheep, Baa Baa Black Sheep is just as much fun to watch today as it was in the late 70s. Highly fictionalized, this team of rejects and rogue fliers were brought together by their fantastic leader Boyington, as portrayed by the incredible Robert Conrad. The comedy is spot on for a war drama, with the cast featuring such familiar faces as John Larroquette, Robert Ginty and Larry Manetti.

Baa Baa Black Sheep show also introduced me to flying. The iconic, gull-winged Chance Vought F4U became one of my favorite air planes of all time, and one of the best characters in the show. I’ve hitched a ride in a T-28 Trojan, which looks similar, but hopefully someday…

This 2 sided DVD has the pilot and first 10 episodes. I have ordered Volume 2. The quality is that of an analog transfer and it looks no better than watching did in the 70s.
