Artist Thomas Mailaender placed negatives from the Archive of Modern Conflict on models' skin, then irradiated it with UV light to create a sunburn print in his book Illustrated People.

According to French publisher RVB:

Mailaender selected 23 original negatives from the Archive of Modern Conflict's collection before projecting a powerful UV lamp onto the skin of his models, revealing a fleeting picture on the skin's surface. Then Maileander photographed models before the picture faded. The book includes the resulting shots combined with other photographic documents found in AMC's collection. "Illustrated People" documents Mailaender's performance.
