Engineer Yassmin Abdel-Magied gave an awesome TED Talk about the danger of unconscious bias.
She starts off by discussing the small assumptions people make about her because of the headscarf she wears, but then she broadens her focus to describe the way unconscious biases play a big role in shaping our workforces. Most importantly, she also shares some suggestions for how we can change that. The whole talk is funny, insightful, and very eye-opening.
