New idea in iced coffee: the “Draft Latte” has been invented, and we want one

La Colombe Coffee CEO Todd Carmichael came up with a cool idea, and made it real.

He invented a method for producing a frothy, cold, on-tap, non-alcoholic coffee and milk beverage that looks kind of like a really good Guinness pour–it’s the “Draft Latte.” You can drink one of these foamy iced coffee drinks at La Colombe’s flagship cafe in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. The firm plans to introduce the beverage to all its locations soon.

This full-bodied latte is naturally sweet, with no added sugar. Possibly even more impressive than the great taste is the texture. For months, Todd has been talking about “mouth-feel” and we didn’t really get it until we tried the stuff. With every sip, the silky microfoam fills your palate, cold and creamy, like a sugar-free milkshake.

Okay look, I can’t explain it, you just have to come try it. Draft Latte is currently available at the Fishtown café on Frankford Avenue in Philadelphia, and will be rolling out to other cafes and cities in the next few months. Come in today to taste the iced latte to end all iced lattes.

I absolutely love coffee *and* the sudsy foamy froth of draft beer, but I do not drink alcohol. Therefore I would drink the shit out of this beverage if it’s as delicious as it sounds.
