After a houseboat sank in the English channel, its contents bobbed off into the waves, allowing rescuers to capture this remarkable shot of a floating bathtub.
A tug boat, towing the 22-meter residence, called in the lifeboat when the houseboat began to sink at about 5 p.m. on June 17. Though they arrived by 5:12 p.m., there was nothing to be done for the doomed vessel. It slipped under the waves at 5:36 p.m., according to reports, leaving crews to scoop up debris from the water.
The tub, however, was too large to haul up, and it had to be left behind.
Seen in footage taken by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, its last known position was reported to the coastguard.
