Medical marijuana does not boost teens' weed use: government-supported study

jenga

“Our findings, consistent with previous evidence, suggest that passage of state medical marijuana laws does not increase adolescent use of marijuana” says a study published this month in the medical peer-review journal The Lancet.

Jacob Sullum of Reason says the study is bad news for drug warriors who have been pushing the false story that medical marijuana leads to increased recreational use by teenagers.

[The study] jibes with the results of at least five other studies but contradicts the predictions of alarmists such as former drug czar (and current U.S. Customs and Border Protection commissioner) Gil Kerlikowske, who repeatedly warned that letting patients use marijuana to relieve their symptoms would make pot more appealing to teenagers.
