Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno have returned to shore with a bold psychedelic album that takes them higher than the smokey haze of Laurel Canyon where their 1960s influences called home, and far beyond the downtown LA indie rock scene where the duo first shared their noise pop passions. California Nights pushes into and through the familiar Best Coast sound of beautifully-distorted beach music, driving and swerving into new territories with complex arrangements, extended melodies, and emotional outpourings from a turbulent time.
On a road trip up the coast on California's majestic highways, Bethany and Bobb—joined by their touring band of Brett Mielke, Joey Bautista, and Brady Miller—visited with Boing Boing for a very special live session. Our talented auteur pal Scott Compton and his co-conspirators from Remedy Editorial collected the evidence and masterfully created this video of the event, for posterity. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Best Coast's California Nights is out now on Harvest records.
