Pocket Monkey, a fits in your wallet multi-tool

pocket-monkey-12-in-1-tool-2

Pocket Monkey is a very handy, 1mm thin stainless steel utility tool. Advertised as TSA compliant, my results have varied.

While not always instantly intuitive, and angling the multi-tool in odd spaces can be a challenge, Pocket Monkey is a handy to have around tool. Handy for smaller nuts ands screws, a bit wide for really small applications like children’s toy battery installation and eye glasses, I found Pocket Monkey’s seemingly secondary functions kind of interesting. The iPhone stand works well and I’ve begun wrapping my headphones around it instead of just wadding them up and jamming them in a pocket.

The stainless is solid, the etching marks clear and easy to read on the Basic Model, even without the Deluxe print.

Pocket Monkey isn’t a leatherman, but you also don’t have a big lump sitting on your hip. It isn’t the easiest to use in all situations but it’ll get you out of a pinch. Carrying it around is easy, and while TSA hasn’t taken it from me yet, they ask to see it at about 1/2 the airports I’ve carried it through. I carry some stainless collar stays in my wallet as well, TSA has never asked to see them.
