Data retention on enterprise-class solid state drives is such that treating them as substitutes for mechanical drives “is clearly not a great idea if the data is important,” reports the International Business Times.

For most consumers, PC World reports that it doesn’t matter: “you’re more likely to discard the system for obsolescence before you start running into read/write errors.”

On that front, Tech Report recently rounded up available options and found that “all of the drives surpassed their official endurance specifications.”
