Photos of cyclone devastation on Pacific island nation of Vanuatu

“Drone footage taken by ABC cameraman Brant Cumming shows some of the destruction wrought by Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu’s capital, Port Vila.”

Ninety percent of the buildings were damaged or destroyed in Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu, when it was hit by Cyclone Pam. Twenty-four people have died and over 3,000 are homeless. The hospital has no electricity and clean water is dangerously low.

Vanuatu’s president, Baldwin Lonsdale, told The Telegraph that the storm had “‘wiped out’ all recent development and his country, one of the world’s poorest, would have to rebuild ‘everything.'”
