Why we love Kumail Nanjiani's “The X-Files Files” podcast

Kumail Nanjiani’s The X-Files Files podcast is ubiquitously entertaining and awesome, but the episode featuring screenwriter Darin Morgan is especially so.

Morgan is the writer responsible for some of the greatest episodes of the series, Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose, Humbug, Jose Chung’s From Outer Space and War of the Coprophages. And while these episodes are certainly now X-Files classics, they are the only four Morgan wrote for the show.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in The X-Files.

Morgan’s oil-in-water perspective on the X-Files is a fascinating one, and super-fan Nanjiani interviews him thoughtfully. Morgan brings up great and poignant points about story telling–and also that David Duchovny is just, like, way too good looking to be a real outsider.

It doesn’t hurt that Nanjiani (also on Silicon Valley) is hilarious, and so this episode ends up being hilarious, as well. You can listen to the episode here.
