Thousands of people are marching in the nation’s capital today, including the families of black men and children killed by police in recent high-profile cases.
The Rev. Al Sharpton, film director Spike Lee, and the families of Eric Garner, MikeBrown, Tamir Rice, Amadou Dialo, and others led a traditional civil rights march from downtown D.C. to the U.S. Capitol.
From the Washington Post:
In other parts of the nation, a number of younger activists gathered as part of a broad National Day of Resistance to protest recent grand jury decisions against indicting officers in the deaths of Eric Garner of Staten Island and Michael Brown of Ferguson, Mo. Protests were set from San Francisco to New York, where a Millions March is slated for the afternoon; in Lexington, Ky., before a basketball game between the universities of Kentucky and North Carolina; in Austin at the Texas capitol; and in Kansas City, Mo., at a federal courthouse.
