When my Check Engine Light goes off I check the error codes with this WIFI enabled OBD-II plug. For $15 it buys me a lot of peace of mind.

Yesterday Mark shared a post about how stupid the CEL is on modern cars and motorcycles. I suffer from an overly sensitive warning light on my 2013 Triumph Scrambler, it has brought me back to the dealer 3-4 times. Hating the long wait to find out the error code meant little to nothing was driving me crazy, so I bought this via Amazon.

Beforewarned, I thought I’d leave it plugged in and didn’t realize it was drawing power even when the motorcycle was turned off. I killed my battery. If you simply plug the device in when you need it, it seems a simple and error free way to determine what error your vehicle is seeing.

I’ve heard stories of people getting useful data out of the OBD port, not so for me. Thus far every error it has thrown was transient and temperature related. Regardless, it is a lot easier than driving 30-40mi round trip to hear a temperature sensor was unhappy 3 days ago.
