Missouri Governor Jay Nixon today reveled the name of the police officer who shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown last weekend, outside an apartment complex in Ferguson: Darren Wilson.
The officer has served on the police force for six years without disciplinary action, said Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson.
The news conference took place outside a convenience store that has become a sort of landmark in protests following the young man's shooting death. Authorities vowed to work together to ensure the safety of the police officer who shot Brown. Jackson added that a robbery had been reported at another convenience store in the area just before Wilson encountered Brown walking down the street with his friend. Unarmed.
Not handed out: a use of force report, any police report written by Officer Wilson, any narrative of shooting

Bottom line: cops are supposed to use deadly force only when lives are at risk. You don't shoot robbery suspects. #Ferguson
