A top Veterans Affairs Department official today said he is sorry VA employees suffered retaliation after complaining about poor care of patients and other problems in the VA system.
James Tuchschmidt, the No. 2 official at the Veterans Health Administration, the VA’s health care arm, apologized on behalf of the department at a congressional hearing Tuesday night.
“I apologize to everyone whose voice has been stifled,” Tuchschmidt said after listening to health care scandal involving long patient waits and falsified records at VA hospitals and clinics became public.
