Mr. Ho, 56, has advanced colorectal cancer. “I’m hoping to be well enough to do the solos in the second movement,” he says. “But I don’t know. Right now I’m so weak and tired that I can only practice 10 minutes a day. But I’m still keeping up my chops.”
