Beating the heat in Brooklyn, fire hydrant style

My friend Clayton Cubitt, a photographer based in Brooklyn, snapped a series of photos of neighborhood kids cooling off NYC-style.

Brooklyn kids beat the heat by opening fire hydrants. This is actually totally legal, although you’re supposed to visit a local FDNY firehouse and check out a “spray cap" which limits the 1000-gallon-a-minute torrent to a nice shower.

Here's the whole photo set.
