The first episode of the final season of the AMC television series Breaking Bad premieres on Sunday, August 11 at 7pm. Howie K says, “This is a sad rite of passage for Albuquerque, which became a central character in the award winning television program. The show put ABQ on the map.”

Yelp is partnering with Miguel Jaramillo, who runs the fan/unofficial Breaking Bad Locations on Instagram, to promote a series of viewing parties around Albuquerque. This sounds like so much fun, I might have to head back to ABQ like Miles and I did last year!

More from Howie:

The page has international following, and recently, many of the followers have begged for an excuse to visit our city: Watch Parties. These are already happening all over the country, so rather than let others steal our local thunder, we’re hosting a Watch Party for all eight episodes at different locations around the city, with a special emphasis on the Premier and Finale. We believe these parties will bring out locals and visitors alike. These are free and open to the general public. Events run 6:30-8:30. Shows begin at 7pm and will close with a Talking Bad chat segment.

Locations and dates as follows:

1. (Premiere) Uptown Sports Bar, 6601 Uptown Blvd NE, Sunday August 11th

2. Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro, 3009 Central Ave NE, Sunday August 18th

3. Louie’s Pub & Grill, 5603 Menaul Blvd NE, Sunday August 25th

4. Hooligan’s Tavern, 9800 Montgomery Blvd NE, Sunday September 1st

5. Marble Brewery, 111 Marble NW, Sunday September 8th

6. Kelly’s Brew Pub, 3222 Central Ave SE, Sunday September 15th

7. Il Vicino Canteen, 2381 Aztec Rd, Sunday September 22nd

8. (Finale) Hotel Albuquerque, 800 Rio Grande Blvd, Sunday September 29th

Want more? Word has it that Marble Brewery is tapping a new brew, the Heisenberg Dark, for the run of the show; Il Vicino is doing a “Crystal-Meth-a-Weizen”; Kelly’s will be announcing a special pour, as well. Various personalities who acted and worked on the show may be making guest appearances. The Supper Truck will be cooking up (pun intended) some BrBa inspired eats. Baillios is sponsoring and providing additional wide screen sets. Add in arts and treats from other locals (the Candy Lady, Rebel Donut) and the evenings are sure to represent the 505 in style.
