Photos of Wernher von Braun

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Wernher von Braun, arguably the most important rocket scientist ever, Space.com posted a gallery of images of the man and his work. And yes, von Braun developed rockets for the Nazis before being “recruited” by the US after the war as part of “Operation Paperclip.”

The above photo is so classic — the desk with the rocket models, blotter, Model 500 phone, desk calendar, and ashtray. Thanks, Rob, for the caption clarifying what von Braun is so clearly thinking.
