Sound it Out #10: The Duke Spirit: “Procession”
If I could invent a band, they’d be one that played straight-ahead, non-trendy guitar rock. My make-believe band would meet at art college and live together in a dingy, furniture-less apartment. They’d have a hot, growly, mysterious female singer and four accomplished dudes cranking out the music.
The Duke Spirit are pretty much that band. They’ve got a new record called Bruiser. It’s only available as a digital download at iTunes and Amazon now, but a tactile version is on its way in February (for those who still like their music in physical form).
“Procession” is an example of what The Duke Spirit deliver at their best.
12/16 Note: Ugh. My previous attempt to tell an interesting story with this song has not gone over like I hoped. I truly do love this song and band and I realize now that my original piece came off as more of a critique than a recommendation. It’s been edited for clarity and so that I don’t sound as much like a nitpicky jerk. Please download and enjoy the song.
