I wanted to share a very personal project with you that I’ve been working on for the past four years. It’s a full-length documentary about the young man I mentor, William Kamkwamba. We’ve already won several awards for the film in progress, including the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival grant. We are in the last 30 percent of the process: refining the film from an assembly edit (4 hours) down to a final length of 90 minutes. Then we do sound, music and final post-production.
We’re running a Kickstarter project to raise the completion funds for the film. It’s now clear we will reach our threshold goal of $40,000. With 25 days to go, we would like to target, to try to reach $60,000. $60,000 will get us to the rough cut more than 50% faster because we will be able to afford more editing resources. Therefore, it’s still very helpful to you give even though the Kickstarter page says that we’ve met our initial goal. Going over is the sign of a successful project.
