DEA bans the building blocks of Bath Salts

An emergency measure put into place by the DEA on Friday places mephedrone, methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV) and methylone under the most restrictive category of drugs for at least a year, while the agency studies whether the chemicals should be permanently banned. They’re used to make so-called “bath salts,” which mimic the effect of stimulants like cocaine and psychedelics like LSD.
