The European Union has seized all incoming shipments of Playstation 3s. It marks the climax in an ongoing IP war between Sony and LG, which have been patent trolling each other over various trivially obvious functions of their products. Usually these are strategic battles aimed at securing lucrative cross-licensing deals, but this one has gotten way out of hand: the impounding costs mean that LG risks financial ruin if they ultimately lose the case.
Update: Sony won already. This limits the fines and costs to LG to a mere $500k, at least so far. [Thanks, DrPretto!]
