If you’re between the ages of 13 and 18—or you teach people who are between those ages—then listen up. Google is holding an online science fair, open to any kid, anywhere in the world. And, pretty much, any field of the sciences. There’s 11 categories that projects can fall under, ranging from computer science & math, to food science.
Entries must be submitted—in the form of a website—by April 4, 2011.
The prizes, as you might expect, are ungodly amazing. The Grand Prize winner goes on a National Geographic expedition to the Galapagos, gets a $50,000 scholarship from Google, and gets first pick of a hands-on internship experience at either CERN, Google, LEGO, or Scientific American.
If one of our young readers were to pull this off, I would die of happiness (and ask them to send photos and stories from their adventures).
Too old? Too young? Don’t know any young people you can live vicariously through? There’s still something special for you. Google’s video advertisement for this thing features a spectacular Rube Goldberg device + some catchy music. It’s posted above.
