Urban Outfitters is going hyperreal with its new New York City store opening next month. The facade is apparently four faux storefronts including a hat shop, hardware store, bodega, and bar. According to Pompei AD creative director Ron Pompei, whose firm designed the whole thing, "The whole idea was to do this kind of ironic statement of lining the building with storefronts that would be reminiscent of independent businesses. It’s the story about the streets of New York as they once were." How, er, nostalgic. "Urban Outfitters Creates A Fake Neighborhood Block For New York City Store" (Thanks, Jason Tester!)
