Man inflates forehead for art

Picture 6 Jerome Abramovitch pumps air saline under the skin of his face for the sake of art.

Update: esworp says: “Jerome Abramovitch uses saline, not air to inflate his face. Using air would create a opportunity for a nasty embolism!”

Reader comment: Jonathan Drout says: “If the man injected air under his skin, he would have very little chance of hurting himself. Subcutaneous emphysema occasionally occurs in people with fractured ribs and collapsed lungs (pneumothorax). The subcutaneous air gets absorbed by your body, though it often takes a while. In the meantime, it gives a very odd feeling when you touch it – like putting your hand on someone stuffed with rice krispies. I’m a registered nurse in a trauma emergency room, and one of my patients just this weekend had severe subcutaneous emphysema after collapsing a lung – he was run over by a jet ski in a local lake.”

Reader comment: J. Tony Smith has inserted the saline forehead guy into the movie trailer for The Wedding Crashers. Link
